Strategic Business Planning Facilitation

Often the best way for us to begin with a client is to facilitate a strategic planning session with your management team at your offices or another site of your choosing. Our tried and true planning process will ensure we clearly define your company’s goals by challenging the team to review past successes and shortcomings, opportunities missed and capitalized upon, and by envisioning the organization at the designated point in the future and establishing the critical success factors necessary to get there. We then make sure each goal is aligned to specific “owned” activities using Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) we identify together.  This will clearly define the actions needed to accomplish its objectives, while energizing or fostering continued growth and enabling the management team to better manage that growth.

Implementation of Metric-based Management Systems

As firm believers in Peter Drucker’s philosophy that “if you don’t measure it, you can’t manage it,” we teach our clients a proven set of management processes to enable better goal-setting, measurement and monitoring of the metrics unique to their business roles and responsibilities.  Further, we show them how to apply this metric-based system of management to go well beyond the evaluation of basic financials.  While the information in a company’s P&L or Cash Flow statement is, of course, important to any business, we show our clients how to instill a sense of personal ownership into the management team and to truly create a culture of accountability by identifying a relevant set of metrics (i.e., Key Performance Indicators or KPIs) to enable more effective goal setting and define success for each member of the team.

On-going Facilitation to Ensure Team Performance & Accountability

As part of, and following beyond the planning process, we focus the team on improving execution (which even the most successful companies find is often their biggest challenge) by implementing a consistent set of processes including scheduled, monthly ½-day strategic management meetings that instill a discipline of measuring and monitoring progress (when compared to the KPIs we define) to build a “culture of accountability and teamwork.” This will ensure the team will execute more effectively against the plan and is a proven technique Goal Partners has taught and applied to over a hundred client companies since 2002.  We are happy to provide reference client contacts upon request.
